Marcello Mariani, The Sublime Transfiguration

Visual Transcendence in Contemporary Experimental Poetry

Marcello Mariani frees himself from the constraints of informal painting, to become a free narration, a metamorphosis of signs, in backgrounds with mysterious shadows.

His transfigured angels loom like unearthly bodies burned by his poetic fury. The solitary wild expanses of Abruzzo project the artist towards an evanescent descriptive dream, through the domination of the carnal light of the landscape. A deforming mysticism reappears through the sign, an ancestral, feverish, Mediterranean light.
